November 06, (THEWILL) – If the latest training report provided by the Napoli official website is any indication, Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen is in contention to be named in the matchday squad for Napoli’s Serie A match against Verona on Sunday.
In Friday’s practise at SSC Napoli Konami Training Center, the Nigerian international took part in full training. Due to a calf injury he worsened in training a week ago, Osimhen was previously unable to participate in all of the sessions.
The 22-year-old was not included in Napoli’s 1-0 win over Salernitana at the end of October, and he was also not included in the squad for Thursday’s trip to Poland to face Legia Warsaw.
The players who began against Legia conducted a recuperation exercise in the gym the day after the match, while Osimhen and the rest of the squad worked with the ball and participated in a tactical session.
Since the beginning of the 2021/2022 season, the 22-year-old Super Eagles’ forward has been on fire, scoring nine goals in twelve appearances for the Napoli team.
Osimhen was included on the list for the forthcoming matches against Liberia and Cape Verde because the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and manager Gernot Rohr were certain he had not sustained such a significant injury to keep him away.
