November 08, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich defeated Werder Bremen 6-1 to increase its lead over the chasing pack in the Bundesliga by four points, thanks to a hat-trick from Serge Gnabry.
Julian Nagelsmann’s team registered another set of four goals – or more – win in a fourth straight home league game with Jamal Musiala, Leon Goretzka, and Mathys Tel also finding the back of the net to tie a club record.
But it was not all good news for Bayern, as Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting saw a penalty saved, while Sadio Mane hobbled off less than two weeks before the start of the World Cup for which he is a crucial part of the Senegalese squad.
Werder had temporarily tied the score in the 10th minute with a goal from Anthony Jung, but they could not keep a marauding Bavarian side and have now lost all 30 of their encounters with Bayern.
Bayern remains league leaders with the result, while Bremen is temporarily down in seventh. Nagelsmann’s team will play their final match before the World Cup at Schalke, while Bremen will host RB Leipzig.
