GJA, IJF Mourn Sudden Death Of GJA President Tetteh

January 17, (THEWILL) – The judo world is in mourning over the sudden passing of Emmanuel Tetteh, President of the Ghana Judo Association (GJA), whose death occurred earlier this month.

Tetteh, who recently retired from his job as a customs officer, had dedicated his time to the development of judo in his country.

The GJA expressed their sadness, noting that Tetteh’s death was a great loss for the association and the sport as a whole: “Unfortunately death is an inevitable part of the journey for all. The vacuum left by the passing of our President will be difficult to fill”, the statement read.

Marius Vizer, President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), also shared his condolences. “President Tetteh’s dedication to the development of judo and to the promotion of its values in Ghana and in Africa will remain in our memories. On behalf of the international judo family, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to President Tetteh’s family and friends, to the Ghana Judo Association and to the greater Ghanaian judo family.”

The GJA noted that the association and the international judo community will continue to remember Tetteh’s contributions to the sport and his dedication to promoting judo in Ghana and Africa.
