November 03, (THEWILL) – Wednesday’s 4-0 victory over Salzburg at San Siro, secured Milan’s place in the Champions League knockout rounds, with two goals and two assists from Olivier Giroud.
Giroud’s early headed goal got Milan started, with their pace showing evidence that they were aware that a point would be sufficient to ensure their advancement to the round of 16.
Rade Krunic added to Milan’s goal tally shortly after halftime, thanks to Giroud’s fantastic assist, before the former Chelsea striker converted a loose ball in the box to make it three.
Late in the game, Junior Messias added even more glitz, as Milan defeated Salzburg to advance to the knockout stages and win consecutive Champions League games for the first time since 2011.
On Saturday, Milan will host Spezia, while Salzburg will travel to Wolfsberg, as both teams resume domestic football.
