Genevieve Nnaji Stages Comeback, Delivers Speech At Gathering Of Creatives In Abidjan

November 26, (THEWILL) – Nollywood actress and movie producer, Genevieve Nnaji, is back, after months of absence from the spotlight.

The actress made her first public appearance on Saturday, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, as a speaker at the 2022 edition of CANEX Weekend, discussing the importance of the film industry to development in Africa.

CANEX Weekend is a three-day gathering of creatives from across Africa and the diaspora.

The three-day event which began on Friday, will come to an end on Sunday, November 27.

Genevieve joined a list of more than 100 top speakers from Africa and the diaspora, representing a range of creative sectors.

Some of the other top creative names, experts, brands and thought leaders who are billed to speak at the event include the Nigerian trio of Bruce Onobrakpeya; Alex Okosi, Managing Director of EMEA Emerging Markets at YouTube and award-winning author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Months ago, speculations were rife that the actress suffered from some form of mental illness and was hospitalised, especially after she deleted pictures on her Instagram page and unfollowed everyone.

The actress did not react to the unfounded rumour even after a self-acclaimed nurse in the United Kingdom claimed Genevieve was admitted to the hospital she works in.

She would later return to social media by sharing a video of herself, where she was painting on a canvas and captioned it, “#mindfulness.”
