December 05, (THEWILL) – Due to the three goals that rising star, Cody Gakpo, has provided for the Netherlands in the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar, the interest in the young forward has increased significantly.
During the offseason, the 23-year-old was coveted by Manchester United, but no deal was made. With five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, no longer with the Red Devils, the Old Trafford side is seeking to expand their alternatives upfront.
United are prepared to pursue Dutch forward, Cody Gakpo, in January. Gakpo’s Dutch club, PSV, would demand £50 million (€ 58 million) for him, which is double what they asked for in the off-season.
Rafael Leao of Milan, who has a deal through 2024, might be the player United chooses to focus on if the club’s management considers the asking price for Gakpo too high for their budget.
