BEVERLY HILLS, May 02, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has lifted the suspension of Azman Air operations.
Azman Air announced this on its verified Twitter handle on Saturday.
NCAA had earlier, on March 15 this year, suspended the operations of all the Boeing 737 aircraft in the fleet of Azman Air Services Limited over safety-related issues.
According to the regulatory agency, the suspension was pursuant to Section 35 (2) of the Civil Aviation Act, 2006 and Part 1.3.3.3 (A) of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs) 2015. The suspension, NCAA said, was to enable the authority to conduct an audit of the airline to determine the root cause(s) of the incidents and recommend corrective actions to forestall recurrence.
THE WILL gathered that NCAA and the management of Azman Airline concluded a zoom meeting Saturday afternoon and that “the airline hopes to roll out flight schedule shortly next week.”
Although, NCAA had not yet issued an official statement, the Director General of NCAA, Capt Musa Nuhu, had earlier raised serious hopes for Azman come back.
In a recent chat with journalists, Capt Nuhu said that: the”We had a virtual meeting. We had a very good discussion and they went through each of the issues one by one. I must tell you the response we had from Azman has been very encouraging and very positive. They are taking all what we have explained to them. Now they understand it is even better for them to improve their business model. I have seen a shift and I can guarantee you that by the time Azman complies with all what we want, the public will see a different Azman airline, that is our purpose.
“I just received a very impressive response from them concerning what they have done. We are going to start serious training for their people next week. Where we find gaps, they have already started employing people and they are really working and cooperating. Honestly, I am very happy and feel very relieved at their response to us.”
