December 20, (THEWILL) – Following “racist and hateful remarks” made on social media about some France players, the French Football Federation (FFF) has stated it will file complaints.
The Qatar World Cup final finished in a 3-3 deadlock at Lusail Stadium in Doha before France lost 4-2 to Argentina over penalties on Sunday. In the aftermath of the defeat, numerous French players allegedly faced racial abuse on social media.
On Monday, online abuse of Kingsley Coman, who missed a penalty in the shootout, had to be publicly denounced by Bayern Munich and the FFF has now pledged to file charges against individuals, who abused Coman and his teammates.
A statement from the Federation on Tuesday read: “Following the World Cup final, several players from the French team were the subject of unacceptable racist and hateful remarks on social networks.
“The FFF condemns them and will file a complaint against those responsible.”
