January 15, (THEWILL) – American-born, R’Bonney Gabriel, has been crowned the winner of the Miss Universe 2022 pageant.
The pageant’s finale, which is its 71st edition, was held on Saturday, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Centre, in Louisiana.
A total of 83 women from around the world competed for the crown.
In the competition, which was hosted by Jeannie MaiJenkins, US show host, contestants were eliminated at various rounds.
The representatives of the United States and Venezuela were the two finalists, with Miss USA beating Miss Venezuela to the highly coveted crown.
28-year-old R’Bonney, who was Miss Texas, was presented the crown by Harnaaz Sandhu, former Miss Universe 2021, from India.
The Miss Universe pageant was founded in 1952.
