FG Unveils Climate Change Centre, Meteorological Institute In Katsina

February 01, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned a multimillion naira Meteorological Institute for Science & Technology and the Climate Change Centre in Katsina state.

Minister of Aviation, Sen Hadi Sirika, who disclosed the unveiling on his verified Twitter handle said, “The highlight of Mr President’s visit to Katsina, for us in aviation, is the commissioning of both the Muhammadu Buhari Meteorological Institute for Science & Technology (MBMIST), and the climate change centre.”

Sirika, who was full of praises to President Buhari for his immense support for aviation claimed that the aviation sector has blossomed more than ever before, since the beginning of the President’s tenure in 2015 to date.

In the post, the minister wrote; “Thank you, Mr President, Aviation has blossomed in your time.”

Prof. Mansur Matazu, Director General, Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NIMET, at the event held on Monday, conducted the president, the minister, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the incumbent Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, and other dignitaries present round the ultra-modern facilities.

THEWILL, earlier quoted Matazu during an event in late 2022 in Abuja to have said that “the efficient policies of the Federal Government and effective implementation of objectives have sustained NiMet.

“For these work plans, reports are routinely provided to the Federal Government through the Minister of Aviation. The work plan was produced to monitor the progress and achievements of each policy thrust”, Matazu said.
