January 13, (THEWILL) – Chelsea’s newest loan signing, Joao Felix, had a debut to forget, as he was sent off for a horror tackle on Fulham’s Kenny Tete during their English Premier League match at Craven Cottage.
The incident occurred in the 58th minute, with the ball loose and Tete approaching it, Felix lunged in with his studs up and brought down the Fulham full-back. After a moment’s consideration, the referee, with the help of VAR, decided to show Felix a straight red card.
The red card means that Felix will be suspended for at least one game, but it could be extended to three games if the Premier League deems the foul to be severe. The incident was a major blow for Chelsea as the scores were level at 1-1 at the time of the sending off and Fulham took advantage of the better numbers and scored to make it 2-1.
