Fear Grips Atletico Madrid Squad As Dembele Collapses At Training

BEVERLY HILLS, March 23, (THEWILL) – On Tuesday, there was a scare at the training grounds of La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid as French striker, Moussa Dembele, unexpectedly collapsed during a stretching session.

The forward, who joined Los Rojiblancos on loan from Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais, was taking part in the session with the squad before fainting.

Dembele’s slump was caught on camera and the footage showed the exact moment the French striker suddenly collapsed to the ground and required urgent medical attention on the training ground.

Early medical analysis reported that the striker collapsed due to a slight drop in blood pressure. However, all fears about the Frenchman’s condition were dismissed with the assurance from the club that all his vital signs were now normal and there were no health concerns to be worried about.

In an overabundance of caution, though, the medical team have placed him under regular and constant monitoring and he will remain under this close supervision for the time being.

Dembele’s loan was signed in January and the forward arrived to a medical situation because he was one of the many players at the club diagnosed with COVID-19. A period of self-isolation and quarantining caused him to miss a run of three matches last month before he returned to the squad.

Before the fainting incident, he had only featured in just 87 minutes of action for the league leaders while continuing as an understudy to the main striking duo Luis Suarez and Joao Felix of the Madrid club.

Developed at Paris Saint-Germain, Dembele made his professional debut for Fulham in the Premier League in November 2013. It is good news that it was nothing worse than a blood pressure drop which he will have to pay closer attention to going forward.
