January 14, (THEWILL) – Enyimba Football Club secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nasarawa United, in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match held at the New Jos Stadium, on Saturday.
The match started with both teams showing great determination to secure a win. However, it was Enyimba, who struck first in the 32nd minute when Elijah Akanni, unleashed a powerful shot that sailed past the Nasarawa United goalkeeper to give the People’s Elephant the lead.
Just five minutes later, Imo Obot doubled Enyimba’s lead with a well-taken goal. The home team tried to mount a comeback, but Enyimba’s defence held strong, denying them any clear-cut chances.
As the match entered its final stages, Nasarawa United pushed forward in search of a goal. Their persistence paid off in the 87th minute when Oche Josiah, scored with a header, reducing the deficit to 2-1. The home team continued to press forward, but Enyimba’s defence stood firm to secure the win.
The victory was a big boost for Finidi George’s Enyimba’s side as they begin on a positive away note and they will be looking to continue their winning streak in the upcoming matches.
