Emir of Kano Stages Lavish Wedding For Daughter

September 11, (THEWILL) – It was a gathering of crème de la crème in the Kano Emirate and Nigeria in general when the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ado Bayero gave his first daughter, Princess Rukayya Bayero’s hand in marriage to Alhaji Umar Usman, son of the Sarkin Kibiya in Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State with a lavish wedding fatiha held at the Emir’s palace in Kano.

Ahead of the ceremony, the couple jetted off to Dubai where they had their photo shoot and shopping for their wedding ceremony. The event kicked off with northern traditional rites, which included the Gada event, a dancing competition among ladies. The Fatiha ceremony was conducted at the Emir of Kano’s Palace with the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, standing as a representative of the bride’s family.

He also presided over the payment of the dowry. Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion include Olu of Warri, Oba Ogiame Atuwatse III; former Vice President Namadi Sambo; Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle; former Governor of Sokoto, Senator Aliyu Wamakko; former Minister of Interior, AbdulRahman Bello; Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasir Bayero; Dein of Agbor kingdom, Benjamin Gbenoba and a host of others. The bride, Rukayya is a fashion designer and virtual stylist while her husband, Usman, is a businessman.
