December 02, (THEWILL) – Liverpool has been warned by Carsten Cramer, Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund, not to expect any “gifts” in their bid to bring Jude Bellingham to Anfield.
Liverpool has had a long-standing interest in the 19-year-old and they appear prepared to step up their efforts to recruit him in 2023. The Englishman’s contract at Dortmund does not expire until the summer of 2025 and interested clubs are aware that they will need to pay a sizable sum to wrest him away and the competition for his signature is likely to drive up the price of the player.
Due to Bellingham’s connections to Klopp, Cramer has acknowledged that Liverpool would be the team he most wants Bellingham to join, but Dortmund will not be giving the Reds any favours in terms of business in the transfers.
Speaking recently, Cramer said: “We have a high sympathy for Liverpool for sure. We are still in a good relationship with Jurgen and many others at Liverpool, so for me, it’s my preferred club in the EPL as well. But don’t expect that we will make gifts to Liverpool.
“He (Bellingham) has a contract. I’m a salesperson regarding commercial business, but not regarding the player’s business. We are happy to have him on board a hundred percent and the longer Jude will play for us, the better it will be.”
