July 09, (THEWILL) – Cameron Norrie’s incredible run at his home Grand Slam came to an end when Novak Djokovic stormed back from a set down to advance to an eighth Wimbledon final.

With the British supporters going wild inside Centre Court, the top seed and defending champion could hardly have had a worse start as he surrendered the opening set 6-2. But, from the second set on, Djokovic, who so frequently has sluggish starts before recovering admirably, produced a very quick and predictable recovery and swiftly established his dominance.

Even though the ninth-seeded British player put up a spirited fight, he was unable to recover, and Djokovic continued his calm progression to the final with a score of 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4.

The Serb, who has had a terrible season thus far, is keen to win his 21st Grand Slam singles championship and close the gap to his rival Rafael Nadal, who now holds 22 titles. Unfortunately, the Spaniard had to quit before the second semi-final due to an abdominal rupture.

The fiery Australian Nick Kyrgios, the unseeded player at the All England Club competition this year, who has spoken of the “real weird” relationship he has with Djokovic, will now square off against the Serbian in Sunday’s final. This will be Kyrgios’ first ever Grand Slam singles final.
