October 20, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich defeated Augsburg 5-2 to advance to the DFB-Pokal third round with goals from Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, and Alphonso Davies, as well as a brace from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

A ninth-minute opener by Mads Pedersen gave Augsburg the lead, but goals from Choupo-Moting and Kimmich put the Bundesliga champions to a 3-1 advantage.

Dayot Upamecano’s own goal raised some concerns that Bayern could drop points, but that was not to be as Musiala and Davies scored late goals to seal the victory and clarion maximum points.

As they advance to the next round of a competition they have won 20 times, 14 more than any other side, Bayern continues to get back the confidence and performance expected of the serial winners and manager Julian Nagelsmann can get some relief.

On Saturday, Bayern will return to league action when they visit Hoffenheim, and Augsburg will host RB Leipzig.
