Delta South: Joel-Onowakpo Consults Clark, Receives Blessings

January 29, (THEWILL) – In a bid to clinch the Delta South senatorial position, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections, Hon Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has taken consultation to the foremost National leader of the Niger Delta region, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.

Joel-Onowakpo, while unveiling his reasons for visiting the elder statesman, said he cannot be contesting for Delta South senatorial position without paying homage to the renowned national leader of the Niger Delta struggle, who happens to be from the zone.

He appealed to Chief Clark, who was a Federal Commissioner of Information, to give him the needed support and fatherly blessings for the actualisation of his aspiration. Joel-Onowakpo disclosed that his bid for the Delta South senatorial district is not premise on self aggrandisement or self glorification, but the sincere need to serve the people of Delta South for the advancement of the entire Niger Delta region and the Nigerian State.

“My leader and father, I am here to pay you homage as our foremost leader in Niger Delta. We are all blessed by your distinctive leadership and struggle for the emancipation of the Niger Delta region.

“Delta South is your home. You are our leader and father. As your son, it is mandatory for me to come before you to solicit your support and ask for your fatherly blessings to emerge as the winner of the forthcoming elections in Delta South.

“I am glad to inform you that there is no one better qualified or has track records better than I do. My intention for running for this office is to bring development to our people, advance the course of Niger Delta and serve with all humility and sincerity of purpose,” Joel-Onowakpo stated.

The Niger Delta leader, who was also an unofficial advisor to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, offered his heartfelt prayers and blessings to Hon Joel-Onowakpo Thomas. Chief Clark described the APC candidate as a humble man with a vast experience and good antecedents.
Noting that Delta South will experience fresh breath when given the opportunity to serve as the Senator representing the zone.

Joel-Onowakpo, who is undoubtedly the leading contender for the senatorial office in Delta South, has been taking his campaign train to the nooks and crannies of Delta South and Delta State, consulting prominent leaders and people of the region for their support.

Just recently, the APC candidate visited the political leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, in his country home at Oghara, for his blessings and endorsement. Ibori was said to have endorsed and prayed for the APC candidate, Joel-Onowakpo.

In a similar development, Joel-Onowakpo was also endorsed by an illustrious son of the Isoko nation and a political leader of the PDP, Rear Admiral John Kpokpogri (Rtd), at his Warri residence in Delta State.
