January 17, (THEWILL) – Nottingham Forest have completed the 20 million (£17.8m) signing of Brazilian midfielder, Danilo on a six-and-a-half-year contract.
The 21-year-old arrives at the City Ground from Palmeiras, where he made over 130 appearances since making his debut as a teenager. He is Forest’s second Brazilian addition of the transfer window, following the arrival of his former Palmeiras teammate, Gustavo Scarpa in December.
The young midfielder said he is excited to be fulfilling his dream of playing in the English Premier League and for Nottingham Forest and cited the club’s rich history and Scarpa’s positive experience as factors in his decision to join.
Sporting Director, Filippo Giraldi said, “We are really happy to welcome Danilo to our club and to our city. He is a fantastic talent that will be a great asset for the present and the future.”
Danilo had also been a target for several other clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Monaco, but Forest ultimately won the race for his signature. The young Brazilian will wear the No. 28 shirt for his new club.
