COVID-19 Is No Scam, Says ‘Alibaba’

SAN FRANCISCO, January 04, (THEWILL) – Nigerian veteran stand-up comedian, Atunyota Akpbome, popularly known as ‘Alibaba’, has urged Nigerians who think that COVID-19 is a scam to think again about their stand.

Alibaba,’ who said he contracted the disease and celebrated Christmas and New Year in isolation at the COVID-19 Centre in Yaba , Lagos, thanked the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Commissioner of Health, Professor Akinola Abayomi, doctors and nurses, who are all working together tirelessly to ensure that those who go to the centres for treatment are properly catered for and treated.

‘Alibaba,’ in a video he shared on his Instagram page on Monday, disclosed that he contracted the disease and celebrated his Christmas and New Year in isolation. He enjoined Nigerians to take the COVID-19 protocols very seriously.

He said: “COVID is real. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s a scam. I just came out of isolation. Several people died while I was there. Some of my close friends knew and they were very supportive.

“I thank the Lagos State governor @jidesanwoolu and the commissioner for health, the MD of the COVID CENTRE in YABA, the Doctors, especially Dr Nifemi, who are risking their lives to keep us alive.

“Thanks to all the nurses. COVID is real. Observe all the protocols. People are dying. And it’s not a joke. In fact, anyone who says COVID is a scam is a compound idiot and a fool.”
