January 24, (THEWILL) – Club Brugge, the reigning champions of Belgium’s Jupiler League, are reportedly monitoring the situation of Nigerian striker, Cyriel Dessers, at his current club, Cremonese of Italy’s Serie A.

Dessers had a successful loan stint at Dutch side Feyenoord last season, where he scored 10 goals in the UEFA Europa Conference League and earned the title of the competition’s highest goalscorer ahead of Roma’s English forward, Tammy Abraham.

After his impressive performance at Feyenoord, Dessers returned to his former Jupiler League club Genk but was quickly snatched up by Cremonese. However, his time at the Italian club has not been as successful, as he has scored only three goals in 16 appearances and the club currently sits at the bottom of the table.

With his poor goal return, Dessers may have to leave Cremonese soon. And, Club Brugge, currently in search of a striker, is considering Dessers as a potential option, especially as a player with Belgian League experience and a proven track record of delivering goals on demand.

The Nigerian striker’s contract lasts until 2027, and Club Brugge may try to get him on an initial loan basis. However, this decision could be difficult for Dessers, as Club Brugge and Genk have a fierce rivalry. It will be seen where his loyalty lies should an offer be made to Cremonese by Brugge on his behalf.
