February 15, (THEWILL) – Simone Biles, one of the world’s most decorated Olympic athletes, and Jonathan Owens, a Houston Texans safety player, are getting married.
Owens proposed on Monday, according to the couple’s social media posts. Biles posted on Twitter: “WOKE UP A FIANCÉE,” with wedding ring emojis before adding: “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married!” She included pictures of the proposal to the post.
On his part, Owens took to Instagram where he appreciated those who helped him organise the proposal. “Appreciate my dawg @don_julio314 for helping me set everything up, she really had no clue what was coming. @zofrost you went crazy on this one bro really made the night special.”
THEWILL recalls that in August 2020, Biles and Owens made their relationship public.
Biles is one of the most decorated American Olympians of all time. She earned seven Olympic medals in her career, tying Shannon Miller for the most by an American gymnast. At the 2016 Olympics, the 24-year-old earned four gold medals in the all-around, vault, floor exercise, and team event.
Owens is with the Houston Texans for his third season. In 2018, he went undrafted out of Missouri Western before joining the Arizona Cardinals.
Owens joined the Texans practise squad after being cut by the Cardinals in August 2019. The 26-year-old made his NFL debut against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11 of the 2019 season, playing eight snaps on special teams.
Over the last two seasons, Owens has appeared in a total of 13 games. In a Week 16 triumph over the Los Angeles Chargers, he recorded his first career interception.
