BEVERLY HILLS, May 21, (THEWILL) – The signs are becoming clearer that Hansi Flick, the departing coach of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, is most likely to take the soon-to-be-vacant managerial position in the German senior men’s national football team when current coach Joachim Low exits.
Flick, who is expected to take Low’s place when the latter’s 15-year stint with Die Mannschaft will come to a close after the Euros, was asked about this and he coyly all but confirmed that it was only a matter of time for it to be made public.
Flick said: “It’s clear that I spoke to the DFB. Everyone knows how I feel about the national team. Things still need to be sorted out. It’s about little things. If they are settled, then we can announce it quickly.”
There is no better way to assess the outgoing Bayern manager than to juxtapose him with his sextuple of trophies from the 2019/2020 season, where the German won everything there was to win with aplomb.
His brief tenure at Bayern was a run of trophies coming into the trophy cabinet at the Allianz Arena. He is signing off with a second consecutive Bundesliga before taking on the challenge of the Die Mannschaft
His sterling record was the basis of clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, from the English Premier League, and La Liga’s Barcelona trying to sway Flick with an offer to take the managerial position but he had always preferred the German team job and was never going to let the opportunity slip.
Flick took sole charge of Bayern following the sacking of former coach, the Croatian Niko Kovac, two years ago.
