October 18, (THEWILL) – At the Ballon d’Or presentation in Paris on Monday, Barcelona teenager, Gavi, took home the esteemed Kopa Trophy.
After teammate Pedri received the honour last year, Gavi became the second Blaugrana player in a row to win the prize, which is awarded to the best player in the world under the age of 21.
Since making the Catalan giants’ first team, Gavi has been a revelation, and he has been rewarded for an outstanding 2021/2022 season in which he was called up by Spain, and he will now participate in his first World Cup in Qatar.
Last season, the 18-year-old Barcelona midfielder made 34 LaLiga appearances, controlling play in the middle of the park, while tallying two goals and six assists.
Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid finished second, followed by Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich, Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund, and Nuno Mendes of Paris Saint-Germain.
