January 24, (THEWILL) – Ex-Wales International, Gareth Bale, who has always been a keen golfer, has announced that he will participate in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament in California between February 2-5.

The tournament, a part of the PGA Tour, will feature some of the world’s top golfers including US Open winner, Matt Fitzpatrick, Jordan Spieth and Luke Donald, as well as 156 amateur golfers.

Bale holds the record for the most goals and appearances for Wales and was known for his love of golf during his football career. He infamously celebrated behind a flag that read “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order” when Wales qualified for Euro 2020.

The 33-year-old left Real Madrid at the end of last season and joined Los Angeles FC in MLS, where he helped his side win the MLS Cup with a last-minute header. He also led Wales to a first World Cup in 64 years, scoring their only goal in Qatar during their 1-1 draw against the United States in their opener.

However, Wales’ World Cup dreams were cut short when they were defeated by England 3-0 in the group stage, which turned out to be Bale’s final game as a professional footballer.
