October 15, (THEWILL) – Thibaut Courtois has been ruled out of Real Madrid’s El Clasico match against Barcelona on Sunday, at the Santiago Bernabéu due to a back injury.
Courtois sustained the injury while representing Belgium on international duty, and he had hoped to recover in time for Sunday’s crucial top-of-the-table match against Barcelona. However, the recovery process has taken much longer than anticipated.
Although Real midfielder, Dani Ceballos, is also ruled out of this game due to a hamstring problem Barca will be without a good number of their first team players especially Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen.
Xavi Hernandez still has other injury worries to contend with as Hector Bellerin and Memphis Depay are currently sidelined with one problem or the other. Fortunately, Jules Kounde is anticipated to return, after a four-week layoff to a hamstring injury, in time to start on Sunday.
