November 01, (THEWILL) – Ayo Makun, aka AY, has bagged 12 awards at the just concluded Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, for his movie, ‘Almajiri’.
He celebrated the feat on his Instagram page while showing off the multiple award plaques as he posed on the red carpet.
“My decision to do something different from my comic comfort zone was only backed with action and here we are in Canada with 12 awards from 27 nominations to show for it.
“Acheiving this success came as a result of my willingness to use my platform to join the growing number of advocates worldwide to call their attention to the ongoing issues of human trafficking, forced labour in Nigeria.
“A very big thank you to Toronto International Nollywood Film festival for making this possible. I couldn’t have done it without standing on the shoulders of our wonderful cast and crew. A big shout-out to everyone”, he wrote.
The film featured Alexx Ekubo, Annie Idibia, Rahama Sadau, Kanayo. o. Kanayo, Segun Arinze and a host of others.
