Arsenal Go Seven-Point Clear In 3-1 Comeback Win Against West Ham

December 27, (THEWILL) – On Boxing Day, when league leaders, Arsenal, returned to English Premier League football, they defeated West Ham 3-1, appearing unbothered about the absence of star forward, Gabriel Jesus.

Many had written off the league leaders’ hopes of winning the title after the setback of losing Jesus for three months due to a knee injury sustained during the World Cup, but at Emirates Stadium, their winning mentality shone through.

Arsenal, who had a goal by Bukayo Saka struck out in the fifth minute for offside, appeared to be in trouble when Said Benrahma converted a penaly late in the first half.

However, as a result of some dominant football from the hosts and some good fortune, Saka calmly levelled the game in the 52nd minute before Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah earned the Gunners a well-deserved victory in front of former long-term manager Arsene Wenger, who was in the stands.

On December 30, West Ham welcome Brentford to their London Stadium Brentford and, on the same day, Arsenal will be on the road, travelling to Brighton & Hove Albion for their next match.
