January 20, (THEWILL) – Arsenal FC have announced the signing of Belgium international, Leandro Trossard, from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 28-year-old forward becomes the club’s first acquisition of the January transfer window, joining for a reported fee of £27 million. The Belgian, who joined Brighton from Genk in 2019, made 116 Premier League appearances for the club.
However, he fell out of favour under the current manager, Roberto De Zerbi, who replaced Graham Potter last year. Speaking to the club’s website, Trossard said, “I’m really excited to get started. This is a big club and I’m ready to show the fans what I can do. Everyone has seen how well we’re doing already and I’m here to help achieve their dreams – including myself.”
Trossard joins Arsenal, who currently sit top of the English Premier League table, as they look to win their first league title since 2004. “I know the manager is a great coach and I hope to be involved in doing great things and getting better as a player in every aspect,” Trossard added.
The addition of Trossard to the Arsenal squad will be a major boost to the club as they look to maintain their position at the top of the league and secure a first league title in nearly two decades.
