Consequently, the court adjourned to allow the prosecutors to examine the report.

Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice were on June 23, 2022, arrested in the UK by London Met Police and charged with conspiracy to traffic one David Nwamini, to the United Kingdom in order to harvest his organ for their daughter, Sonia.

According to the prosecutors, Sonia Ekweremadu is currently suffering from a kidney-related disease and has been on dialysis for quite some time.

While the lawmaker had been in custody since June 23, his wife, Beatrice, who was arrested with him, was granted bail by a criminal court in London shortly after their arrest.

His daughter, Sonia, had on November 7, 2022, appeared in court to defend the accusation of trafficking Nwamini into the UK to harvest his organs for herself.

According to Daily Mail, the 25-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge level against her when she appeared again in court on January 13.

Obinna Obeta, a Nigerian doctor practising in the UK, has also been charged with plotting with the Ekweremadus to traffic Nwamini to harvest a kidney for Sonia.
