January 10, (THEWILL) – Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr, has reportedly set its sights on Barcelona midfielder, Sergio Busquets, after landing Cristiano Ronaldo, in a deal worth a reported $75m-per-year.
Al-Nassr has prepared a €13m-per-year package for Busquets as the Spanish midfielder nears the end of his contract. Inter Miami of the Major League Soccer (MLS) has reportedly been in talks with Busquets over the past few months, but no agreement has been reached despite the 34-year-old’s desire to play in the United States.
The Saudi club is, therefore, looking to beat out competition from Inter Miami and Barcelona, who may offer Busquets a new deal to stay on with the Catalan club after manager Xavi Hernandez recently convinced him to stay for the final six months of his contract.
In addition to Busquets, Al-Nassr has also been linked with several other high-profile players following the signing of Ronaldo, including Sergio Ramos of Paris Saint-Germain, Eden Hazard of Real Madrid, Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund, and N’Golo Kante of Chelsea.
The Spanish midfielder will now turn his attention to the upcoming Supercopa de Espana semi-final match between Barcelona and Real Betis. Busquets and his Barcelona teammates will look to secure their spot in the final as they continue their push for silverware.
