January 17, (THEWILL) – A 35-year-old man from Hackney, northeast London, has been charged with assault and other offences following an altercation with Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale after the North London Derby on Sunday.
The incident occurred after the final whistle, when the Tottenham supporter, identified as Joseph Watts, jumped onto the advertising board and kicked Ramsdale. This happened while the goalkeeper was attempting to pick up his water bottle after a bit of heckling by Richarlison.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that Joseph Watts has been charged with assault by beating, going onto an area adjacent to the playing area, and throwing a missile onto the playing area. He is set to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on February 17th.
