Benin City, Jan 4, (THEWILL) - There seem to be a deliberate media blackout about comments made on the above subject matter! Earlier on Monday, the chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State branch, made an opinion that was to be aired in a local radio station when he was told by an anonymous but reliable source that there is a surreptitious government embargo on their being allowed to air anything on the travails of the said Farouk. The insistence on his part to know where the order emanated from was rebuffed as is typical of our environment, all that was said, was that it was order from above!

The short message was that the entire members of the Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State branch, sympathise with the family of Dr. Umaru Mutallab on the emotional trauma that he and his family are passing through and the negative image the incident have impacted on the family. The chairman, Dr Akpufuoma Pemu, who is a psychiatrist opined that Farouk was in the process of causing deliberate self harm(attempted suicide) and as such advocated that Farouk should actually be evaluated by a psychiatrist. ln addition, he should be repatriated to Nigeria for the evaluation and possible trial rather than this to take place in the USA.
