AFRICAN NATIONS CUP: Nigeria Beats Zambia, Qualifies For Semi- Final

San Francisco Jan 25, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Super Eagles beat Zambia in an African Nations Cup quarter-final match by 5 goals to 4 in a penalty shootout after a goaless 90 minutes and extra time.

The Eagles did not play well in the match and had their Onyekachi Apam red carded in the extra time of play. Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama saved the fourth penalty and converted one to give Nigeria a place in the Semi-Finals.

The team selection for the match were:

Zambia: 16-Kennedy Mweene; 4-Joseph Musonda, 5-Hichani Himonde, 6-Emmanuel Mbola, 19-Thomas Nyirenda; 13-Stophira Sunzu, 20-William Njobvu (21-Clifford Mulenga 114),10-Felix Katongo (14-Noah Chivuta 98), 11-Christopher Katongo; 12-James Chamanga (21-Emmanuel Mayuka 67), 7-Jacob Mulenga.

Nigeria: 1-Vincent Enyeama, 19-Yusuf Mohammed, 6-Danny Shittu, 21-Elderson Echiejile, 22-Onyekachi Apam; 10-John Obi Mikel, 20-Dickson Etuhu (13-Yusuf Ayila 62), 15-Sani Kaita; 11-Peter Odemwingie, 8-Yakubu Aiyegbeni (9-Obafemi Martins 69), 7-Chinedu Obasi (18-Obinna Nsofor 91).
