San Francisco (THEWILL) – Tiger Woods has decided to take an “indefinite break” from professional golf to enable him focus on “being a better husband, father, and person,” according to a report posted on his web site late Friday.

Woods has been under fire since reports leaked that he has been unfaithful to his wife, Elin with several women.

The golfer said, “I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and I ask for forgiveness.”

“Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who offered compassion and concern during this difficult period,” he wrote.

The world’s no 1 golfer earns $110 million dollars annually from endorsements and appearances at tournaments. Forbes magazine also acknowledges that he is the first athlete to top $1 billion in career earnings. His break from the sport will sure affect his income.
