THEWILL Presidential Election Room With Live Result Update!
SAN FRANCISCO, April 16, (THEWILL) - Early results from the Nigerian Presidential election has shown ethnic and religious sentiments as voters polled for thier favourite candidates.
The two main frontrunners; the candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) General Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim from the North is very dominant in the North with no sign of taking a single state in the whole South and Middle Belt, while candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, Christian, a Southerner from the minority oil producing region is sweeping all the states in the South and doing considerably well in the Middle Beltan states, plus gaining strong in the northern states of Adamawa and Kwara.

*Muhammadu Buhari records huge wins in Sokoto, Kebbi, Borno, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Kaduna, Niger and Jigawa.
*Goodluck Jonathan records wins in the entire SE, SS, South West minus Osun, which went to ACN, FCT Abuja, Adamawa, Benue, Plateau, Kogi, Taraba and Kwara.
NIGER:
*Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu (PDP) and General Ibrahim Babangida (PDP) beaten again in their wards. Muhammadu Buhari in commanding lead.
ABUJA:
*Large turnout recorded.
Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) defeats Muhammadu Buhari (CPC) in pollings units in the Presidential Villa thereby upturning the PDP defeat in the NASS election there. Jonathan polled 630 against Buhari's 318 in one unit. At the second polling unit near the Presidential villa stores it was Jonathan 603 and 374 for Buhari.
* KANO:

Ibrahim Shekarau (ANPP) votes in Giginyu ward, Kano, in today's presidential election.
ANPP Presidential candidate Ibrahim Shekarau loses Giginyu home Ward (ANPP 89, PDP 61, CPC 337). Also loses in all poling units in Government House to CPC: CPC 2478, ANPP456, PDP 234, ACN 41.
* Official result for Kano: Buhari:1,624,543 votes, 59.172%, Shekarau scored 526,310 votes, 19.17%, Jonathan scored 440,665 votes, 16.05% and Ribadu got 42,353 votes, 1.543%.
ADAMAWA:
PDP Presidential candidate, Goodluck Jonathan wins Government House Yola polling units, waxing strong in all senatorial districts, projected to win Adamawa State.
BORNO:
CPC Presidential candidate, Muhamadu Buhari wins Government House polling units, projected to win Borno State.
LAGOS:
PDP win in Govenor Babatunde Fashola's (ACN) Surulere polling unit: PDP 141, ACN 140, CPC 90. Also defeats rivals in Tinubu's ward. Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) projected to win in Lagos.
BAYELSA:

Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) votes in Otuoke, Bayelsa, in today's presidential election.
Presidential candidate Goodluck Jonathan wins ward 100%: PDP 424. others 0.
KWARA:
PDP win in Government House polling units. Strongman of Kwara State politics, Oloye Abubakar Saraki abstains from voting. Early results from senatorial districts show PDP in strong lead.
KATSINA:

Buhari votes in Daura, Katsina in today's presidential election..
CPC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari wins in Sarkin Yara ward in Daura: CPC 494, PDP 0, ANPP 4, ACN 2.
BAUCHI:
Reports of violence in the Misau area of the state as irate youths burn part of INEC building in protest before accreditation began. There are also reports of persons going from polling unit to unit urging voters not to vote for an 'infidel', that is, the PDP candidate President Goodluck Jonathan. CPC projected to win state.
OGUN:
Low turnout recorded as most voters stayed away from poll.
KADUNA:

Vice president Namadi Sambo votes in Kaduna in today's Presidential election.
