Plateau Religious Bodies Express Confidence In GOC

JOS, August 29, (THEWILL) - Religious bodies in Plateau State have commended the efforts of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) the 3 Armoured Division and Commander, Special Task Force (STF), Major General Saleh Maina in restoring peace in the state. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Plateau State Chapter and Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) commended the GOC when they paid him a visit over the weekend. The CAN delegation which spoke through its new Chairman, Rev. Philip Dafes thanked Maina for his love and concern for the people of Plateau State adding that the role played by General Maina in quelling the Jos crisis was "enormous". He added that the notion people had about General Maina was wrong. The CAN called on the people of the state to "always verify situation around them, work with facts and avoid hearsay situations" adding that the society can only get better if truth, sincerity and commitment are made to be the concern of every individual. JIBWIS led by its National Secretary, Alhaji Adam Musa Adam also said the purpose of their visit was to appreciate the effort of the STF in restoring peace in the state Adam added that the fact that people in the state can now go about doing their businesses was an indication that peace has fully returned. The GOC thanked the delegations for their visit saying adding that though very tasking, the job of security "is every body’s business" and further enjoined all to partake in it so that the country will move forward. He called on the religious leaders to impart the knowledge of peaceful coexistence so that peace and progress can be achieved collectively.
