ABUJA, April 27, (THEWILL) - Very big surprises as the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the party’s National Chairman, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor.

It said the Ogbulafor-led National Working Committee (NWC) should go ahead with its current plan of organizing the party and ensuring its growth and stability in spite of the many plots to oust him from office.

In a communiqué at the end of the meeting signed by PDP National Publicity Secretary Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, the NEC also passed a vote of confidence on the Acting President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Assembly for their unique and outstanding roles in stabilizing the polity.

While expressing delight that the contractors had been mobilized to site for the construction of new PDP National Secretariat, NEC hailed the Acting President for the role he has played in the realization of the project.

NEC likened the current PDP provision which makes the number of delegates in a Senatorial Congress more than those electing a Governorship Candidate as a misnomer and therefore approved proposals for the amendment of section 12.14, 12.46, and 12.48 of the PDP Constitutions which deals with number of delegates to elect flag-bearers of the party at various levels.

Recall that the NEC meeting had been postponed three times before it was finally held after the party got a relieve from a Court Order which also threatened it because of perceived political ambitions of some top PDP elected officials.
