Security: Uduaghan challenges Police On 2011 Elections

ASABA, DELTA APRIL 18, (THEWILL) - Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has charged the Nigeria Police Force to be alert, vigilant and deal decisively with anyone who tries to disrupt peace in the state as the 2011 elections draws near.
Dr. Uduaghan who gave the charge when the AIG zone 5 Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar paid him a courtesy visit, weekend in Asaba said his administrations priority is to ensure adequate peace and security in the state.
He explained that no meaningful development can take place in a state where there is no peace and security; even as he said that his administration will continue to give the police force the necessary support to ensure peace and security in the state. “I want to assure you that we will continue to assist the police. We are making effort to ensure there is peace and security in the state by providing the necessary facilities to the police for effective performance.”
Explaining further, the Governor noted that his administration was making plans to install surveillance gadgets in urban areas of the state to enhance improved security of lives and properties.
The governor disclosed that his administration was making efforts to reduce the presence of the military in the state and make the police more visible in handling security issues. "We believe that the police will be in the centre of ensuring peace. We are trying to make the police more visible to handle security issues and reduce military presences in the state that is why we are equipping the police to meet up this responsibility."
Dr. Uduaghan commended the state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Yakubu Alkali for putting his wealth of experience into play explaining that it has made him excel in his performance saying “The C.P is a quiet achiever, knows his onion and this has shown in his achievements in the state, I thank him.”
In his remarks the AIG zone 5, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar commended the governor for his support and cooperation. He promised the governor that the police force will do its best in meeting up with the challenges of ensuring violent free and peaceful campaign elections in 2011.
Alhaji Abubaka commended Dr. Uduaghan for his contributions towards reducing crime rate in the state.
Speaking further, he promised the cooperation of the Nigeria Police Force in making Delta State a safe home for all.
