MAKURDI, BENUE April 17, (THEWILL) - Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue State has denied reports that he has been scheming to position his wife Mrs. Oluyemisi Dooshima Suswan as Vice Presidential Candidate for the 2011 Presidential election.

Suswan who stated this at the opening of a two day retreat organized by the Senate Press Corp in Makurdi, Benue State Capital, also debunked allegations that he has been at loggerheads with Senate President David Mark over the appointment of a Minister representing Benue State in the federal cabinet.

Describing the reports as false and malicious, Suswan said there was no plan to push his wife as Vice Presidential candidate noting that there was no such plan under the platform of any political party.

He also stressed that there was no disagreement between him and the Senate President on any issue adding that they were united in choosing Mr. Sam Odeh, a former aide to the Governor as ministerial nominee to represent Benue in the Executive Council of the Federation.

Odeh who was cleared by the Senate has been assigned Minister of State for Niger Delta by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.

Stating that he and Mark had always enjoyed a good working relationship since their election into their respective offices, Suswan said such would remain out of love and understanding for one another.

"It is not true that I had disagreement with the Senate President on the choice of ministerial nominee to represent Benue State. That report is false. We were united in making the choice. The nominee from Benue State is my confidant. So how can he, (Senate President) take him if there is a disagreement between us?" Suswan queried.
