San Francisco March 30, (THEWILL) – The Presidency on Tuesday withdrew the nominations of former National Planning Minister, Shamsudeen Usman (Kano State) and Umaru Aliyu (Taraba State).

The order to halt the screening of Usman, also a former finance minister in Yar’Adua's first year in office and that of Aliyu was conveyed to the Senate on Tuesday evening by the Presidency.

Thought no official reason was given for the action, THEWILL checks revealed that Usman’s screening may have been stopped because of the series of petitions against him at the Presidency.

On his part, Aliyu’s nomination, which was out rightly rejected by all Senators representing his state at the Senate may have been dropped for security seasons after a meeting between some PDP senators and Senate President, David Mark at his residence.

It was not clear as at press time what the Presidency's next line of action would be on the subject.
