Jonathan Sends Additional Five Ministerial Nominees To Senate

ABUJA March 29, (THEWILL) – Nigerian Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan has sent five additional Ministerial nominees to the Senate for clearance.

This brings to 38 the number of nominees so far sent to the Senate for screening.

Four of the new nominees were Ministers in the dissolved cabinet.

Senate President David Mark announced the names of the additional nominees at the opening of Monday’s special sitting for the screening of 14 of the nominees initially submitted by the Acting President.

The additional five nominees include, Mr. John Odey former Minister of Environment (Cross River); Humphrey Abba, former Minister of State for Commerce (Kogi);  Isa Ibrahim Bio former Transport Minister (Kwara),  Aderemi Babalola former Minister of state for Finance (Oyo) and new nominee Samuel Odey (Benue).

The 14 nominees scheduled for screening on Monday include Chukwuemeka Wogu (Abia), Akinlabi Olasukanmi (Osun), Josephine Anenih (Anambra), Professor M. K. Abubakar (Kebbi) Sanusi Dagash (Borno), Fidelia Njeze (Enugu), Adetokunbo Kayode (Ondo) and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi).

Others are Yusuf Suleiman (Sokoto), Emmanuel Iheanacho (Imo) Labaran Maku (Nasarawa), Adamu Waziri (Yobe) Dora Akunyili (Anambra) Mohammed Adoke. (Kogi).

Meanwhile lobbying is still in top gear among nominees to ensure their clearance in the Senate.
