Insecurity: Police Question Anenih

San Francisco March 19, (THEWILL) – The Chairman of Nigeria Ports Authority and a PDP chieftain, Chief Tony Anenih was invited by the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Kachi Udeoji for questioning on Friday following various security incidents in the city including the discovery of two IED bombs at the House of Assembly and the state owned broadcasting service.

Chief Anenih alongside his political party, PDP and the Adams Oshiomhole led Action Congress in the state have been at loggerheads over the control of the state House of Assembly.

The police department did not disclose details of the encounter between the police and Anenih.

In its reaction to Anenih’s questioning, the AC led state government in a statement from Oshiomhole’s spokesman Peter Okhiria commended Kachi Udeoji for questioning Chief Anenih on the insecurity in the city.

The statement reads: “The Government commends the state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Kachi Udeoji for inviting Chief Tony Anenih for questioning over the security situation in the state.

"While we commend the Police Commissioner for taking a positive step in the matter by inviting Chief Anenih for questioning, all others closely or remotely connected to the bomb scare in the state should also be invited for questioning.

"No one closely or remotely connected to this matter should be treated as above the law or be seen to be so treated.

"Everyone found culpable in the bomb scare and other security breaches in the state should be made to face the law, no matter their political affiliations or social connections.

"Failure to do this would encourage and embolden other mischief makers and evil-minded persons to embark on other acts capable of causing security scare in the state in other to feather their nests towards achieving their selfish political interests," the statement said.
