San Francisco Jan 25, (THEWILL) – Reports reaching THEWILL indicate that Otunba Dipo Dina, a governorship candidate for the Action Congress in the 2007 gubernatorial election in Ogun State has been assassinated in what looks like a political assassination.

Otunba Dina was killed on Monday night in Sango Ota, Ogun State, hometown of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on his way to Lagos from Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Though information on the assassination is still sketchy, THEWILL checks however revealed that the late politician was shot multiple times in his SUV after his assailants crossed his vehicle near the Covenant University.

The late politician was locked in a fierce legal battle with present Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel of the PDP over the 2007 gubernatorial polls which he and his political party, AC alleged was rigged.

AC National Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in his reaction said the latest killing has shown the level of insecurity in the country.

The Nigerian Police has not issued a statement on the incident. The remains of the man popularly called D-Direct has been taken to the hospital mortuary in Ota.

The recent assassination of Mr. Dina easily brings to mind other unresolved political assassinations including that of Mr. Funsho Williams, Mr. Marshall Harry and former Attorney General Bola Ige amongst others.
