Benin City (THEWILL) - The entire members of the Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State branch have joined other well meaning Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to wish President Umaru Yar'Adua speedy recovery.

The state chairman, Dr Akpufuoma Pemu in a statement made available to THEWILL, believes that the hospitalization of the Nigerian president in Saudi Arabia should serve as a clarion call to all levels of governance in the country to fast track infrastructural development and improve medical care facilities in our various hospitals.

Dr. Pemu disclosed that it is rather unfortunate that Saudi Arabia which for several years had Nigerians at the helm of their medical practice is the same country that our president has to go to for medical care saying that it is a clear indication that our predicament is not qualified medical professionals but poor medical facilities and obviously poor leadership.

Concluding, he maintained that “good leaders when they have medical conditions are treated in medical facilities in their country, whither Nigeria?”

President Yar’Adua left Nigeria for Saudi Arabia more than three weeks ago for treatment of acute pericarditis.
