Bode George Ordered To Serve Entire Prison Sentence
Lagos (THEWILL) - A Lagos Federal Court of Appeal has dismissed the bail application brought before it by Chief Bode George who had asked the court to grant them bail pending the determination of their appeal.
The court ruled that there was no compelling evidence to support their application hence it could not grant the request.
The former Nigeria Port Authority (NPA) chairman was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison along with five others for crimes including fraud and conspiracy.
They will remain in jail till their appeal is determined.
A Lagos Federal High Court chaired by Justice Olubunmi Oyewole on October 26, 2009 found them guilty on a 47-count charge and sentenced them to jail.
Dissatisfied with their convictions they went to the Court of Appeal and prayed the court for bail pending the determination of their appeal.
