Abuja (THEWILL) - Professor Charles Soludo’s hopes of contesting the February 6, 2010 governorship elections in Anambra State was halted again by an Abuja Court of Appeal on Wednesday morning.

The court restated its earlier ruling that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should not include the former Central Bank governor’s name in the list of candidates eligible for the election pending when it concludes a matter before it challenging his candidacy.

Soludo and the Peoples Democratic have taken the matter to the Supreme Court.

Two aggrieved party members who were dissatisfied with the process that nominated Soludo had urged the court to void his nomination.

INEC had omitted Charles Soludo’s name from the list of candidates for the election which it made public last week.

Soludo candidacy is being pushed by Chief Tony Anenih and former vice president Dr. Alex Ekweme.

Unconfirmed reports say he has spent more than N4 billion naira so far on his governorship ambition.
