Lagos (THEWILL) - Dr. Andy Uba has joined the Labour Party as its governorship candidate for the Anambra State gubernatorial election.

The former presidential aide was last week invited to become the party’s candidate in the 2011 election by a member of the LP's state executive after he lost his bid to get an Appeal Court declare him “Governor In Waiting.”

Uba and the Labour Party met the December 8 deadline set by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for parties to submit the names of their candidates for the February 6, 2011 poll.

Andy Uba will contest against the incumbent Governor, Peter Obi of APGA, former governor Chris Ngige, AC and a few other candidates.

The fate of Professor Charles Soludo and Anambra State PDP is still unclear as an Abuja Appeal Court last week ordered INEC to disregard his candidacy pending the determination of a suit challenging the party’s nomination process which produced the former CBN governor as its flag bearer.
