SAN FRANCISCO, February 07, (THEWILL) – One huge bomb blast has rocked a major military installation located in Kaduna, according to eyewitnesses.

The blast occurred inside the 1 Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army.

Another blast has reportedly hit a bridge at Kawo, while reports say a 3rd blast hit the Nigeria Air Force Base in the city.

Intelligence sources told THEWILL that two Boko Haram suicide bombers in two vehicles driving in top speed had attempted to ram the main entrance into the Mechanized Brigade located along Kaduda-Zaria road.

They were however greeted by the resilient gun fire of soldiers guarding the facility.

One vehicle which managed to gain entrance drove across the lawn hitting an artillery canon near the gate and exploded, causing windows of some buildings in the facility to shatter.

The other car did not make it inside the facility as it hit a wall.

Military sources told THEWILL there were no fatalities on the military side.  One eyewitness said a primary school building near the base collapsed wounding a couple of kids.

The area has been cordoned off to enable military and police bomb experts do their work.
