Text Of The Supreme Court Judgement That Sacked 5 State Governors
SAN FRANCSCO, February 03, (THEWILL) – A 7-man panel of justices of the Nigerian apex court last Friday, January 27, 2012, ruled that the tenures of Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, Aliyu Wammako of Sokoto State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris of Kogi State, Admiral Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State and Senator Liyel Imoke of Cross River State had actually expired since May 29, last year.
The Supreme Court ruling followed an appeal filed by INEC and an Adamawa State governorship candidate, Buba Marwa, urging the court to declare that the governors had over stayed their tenures in office.
